Resurrection Day!

Today is Resurrection Day!

I really don’t like calling it Easter, since that is the name of a pagan holiday. The church adopted it later.

And so, I call it Resurrection Day. It is a commemoration of the day Jesus was raised from the dead and guaranteed our resurrection too!

Happy Resurrection Day to you!

Thoughts on Psalm 23

The 23rd Psalm is probably THE best known of all the Psalms in the Bible. It has become a prayer to me, one I pray out loud regularly. As I have prayed it, God gives me insight on how those words relate to my life personally. Today I would like to share them with you…

A Life of Surrender – Part 1

I’m sure the title to this post won’t make anyone want to read it! But in the Christian life, surrender (to God) is important. James 4:7 says we can’t even resist the devil without surrendering to God. Surrender is pre-requisite. Surrender starts at salvation. Then surrender is ongoing. Surrender is every day, every minute, every second. If you choose it. Continue reading

My Audience of One

Are you a people-pleaser? Are you afraid to say no to people? Then you probably are a people-pleaser.

We know fear is bad. Fear is bondage. Fear of people’s opinions is bondage. Fear of what they may think of you is bondage. Fear of consequences, if you say no, is bondage. God wants you free. He wants to be your audience. He wants to be the One you concern yourself with pleasing. Everything else will fall into place after that. Oh yeh, you will make people mad when you take this stance. But it’s important. Continue reading

A Thought…a Prayer

Something came to me today….I haven’t made a resolution for the New Year yet. I have one now. Instead of saying “I” so much, I’m going to start always saying “we.” Because no matter what, it’s never just “I” anyway. It’s Jesus and me, so that’s a “we!” Continue reading

Are my Words Really That Important?

I guess not, if you don’t care what happens in your life.

First, I’d like to lay out the basis for the argument that our words DO matter. Jesus said they matter and that we would be judged for every idle word we speak. I do not think that was just an ‘idle” threat. (te he!) Matthew 12:36 There are various interpretations about what constitutes “idle” words, but for now, I am not going to discuss that.

What Happened to My Sin Nature?

The strength of sin is the law. I Cor. 15:56. Salvation takes us away from the legalistic “husband” (the law, that can only point out what is wrong with us, but never lifts a finger to help us) and marries us to another, Jesus Christ, a husband of grace and mercy who is always available and willing to help. We are now free to hear the Holy Spirit direct our lives and tell us what to do. Continue reading

Finding His Will

To find the will of God for your life, one simply MUST be a student of the bible, the Word of God. I Cor. 2:11 says “What person perceives (knows and understands) what passes through a man’s thoughts except the man’s own spirit within him? Just so, no one discerns (comes to know and comprehend) the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.” (Amplified Bible) Continue reading
