2 Chronicles 16:9 “For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him…”
The context of this verse is this….a seer came to a king of Judah to chastise him for relying on the help of another king instead of on God alone. The seer gives the king an example of a previous battle when the Lord had delivered the enemy into his hand and then goes on to make this statement about the eyes of the Lord. This statement is a true statement that all of us as God’s children can embrace as a promise for our own lives.
How would you like to have the Lord show Himself strong on your behalf? You can. He loves you and wants to prove Himself to you, to show Himself strong on your behalf. I have had several dramatic near misses in “near accidents” where I knew the Lord was working on my behalf. Life can be a series of near misses sometimes and I am always glad to see Him work on my behalf, especially in a possible car accident! I have been saved several times!
I will share some more verses from the bible that run in this same vein. There are a few in Proverbs and the Psalms.
Psalms 34:15 “The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their cry.“
Proverbs 5:21 “For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, And He ponders all his paths.“
Proverbs 15:3 “The eyes of the LORD are in every place, Keeping watch on the evil and the good.
Proverbs 22:12 “The eyes of the LORD preserve knowledge, But He overthrows the words of the faithless.” I like this one too.
The New Testament has a verse about the eyes of the Lord in 1 Peter 3:12, “For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and His ears are open to their prayers….
These are great promises, to know that He is actually looking around looking for someone to show Himself strong for, and that He is drawn to us when our hearts are drawn to Him is comforting in the dark world that we presently live in. It’s dark here, but it’s even darker in other countries. I believe God is always looking for faith. It gets His attention; He is drawn to it. His power is drawn to it. He loves all of us, but not all of us love Him. There are bible stories of how faith drew His attention and His power.
“Then those who feared the LORD spoke to one another, And the LORD listened and heard them; So a book of remembrance was written before Him For those who fear the LORD And who meditate on His name. ‘They shall be Mine, says the LORD of hosts, On the day that I make them My jewels. And I will spare them As a man spares his own son who serves him.‘”Malachi 3:16-17. I love this verse.
