For He has not put the world to come…in subjection to angels. Hebrews 2:5
“Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world will be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters? Do you not know that we shall judge angels? How much more, things that pertain to this life?- 1 Corinthians 6:2-3
The plan of God always was that man would rule over the earth. That was the domain given to him. We see this in the scriptures. In Genesis 1:28. God commissioned his created man and wife to “have dominion over the earth.”
In the Psalms 8:3-6, the Psalmist says, “When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained,
What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him?
You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands;
For You have made him a little lower than the angels, And You have crowned him with glory and honor. You have put all things under his feet,“
It may be hard to believe, but God has never changed His mind about this purpose. It’s just that there has been opposition to His plan ever since the first couple sinned in the Garden of Eden. Our spiritual enemy, satan, does not want God, or men and women to be successful. He wants to destroy people. He fights the will of God everywhere he can. That is why we see the increased warfare of our time. Men have strayed further and further away from God and become totally lawless. The warfare is against everything that is good and right.
But it was Jesus who said the gates of hell would not prevail against the church in Matthew 16:18. So it is the Church, the body and expression of Christ in the earth, who offensively assaults the gates of hell that this promise is for. The forces of righteousness can and will prevail. It may take some time. I’m not talking about Christians taking over the world per se, but I am talking about God’s influence increasingly coming into the earth, into our nation, our states, our counties and towns, in a greater way than it ever has to affect our world and our society that so desperately needs it right now. Let this be our mission and our aim. We are here to influence. We are ambassadors of Heaven.
Of the Church, which consists of those who have experienced salvation, Ephesians says, God has “raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.” Ephesians 2:6-7.
Man is God’s prized creation, His crowning glory. We have been made in His image. We indeed are special. We are co-heirs with Christ. If we are saved, we carry the Light of the World inside of us. Let’s determine to let that glory, that image of God and His goodness, be revealed to those around us. Because of the darkness in the present world, our lights will be brighter than ever.
