Recently, I went through a few days of pain in my body. I am not accustomed to pain in my body, having enjoyed the wonders of a very healthy and pain free life. Let me state unequivocally, and I’m sure all will agree: Good health is a BLESSING!
When we don’t feel good or we are in pain, we aren’t living an abundantly blessed life. When our bodies don’t feel good, we aren’t at our best; we get “grumbly.” At least I do.
Let’s look at some scripture. “…the joy of the Lord is your strength.”Neh. 8:10
“Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it flows the issues of life.” Prov. 24:3
“A merry heart does good like a medicine.” Prov. 17:22 Let’s take that literally!
Psalm 103:2-5 “Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits—
who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with lovingkindness, who satisfies your mouth with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”
And then there’s Deuteronomy 7 and 8. Even in the Old Testament, God’s people could be protected from sickness and be in good health. Consider Deuteronomy 7:15…”The Lord will keep you free from every disease. He will not inflict on you the horrible diseases you knew in Egypt, but he will inflict them on all who hate you.” There were conditions of obedience, but they could escape the diseases of the ungodly. It really is that simple.
The Kingdom of God is righteousness peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Romans 14:17
Can you have joy when you are sick and hurting? You can try and be joyful, but it will not be easy.
I’m sure everyone is aware that when something is wrong in our body, it works to heal itself. God set it up that way. He gave us an immune system that fights disease and sickness. So what does that tell you? Would God create the human body to go against His will? Those of you who deny that God heals, how can you deny it when He made our bodies to heal themselves? Our bodies are made in agreement with His will for us. Some may dispute that statement because children are born with infirmities and disease. That is the devil’s work. A loving Father does not wish those things to happen.
I have read that our cells replenish themselves every eleven years,. I have also read that doctors and scientists don’t know why we die because our cells continue to replenish themselves. The truth is, our bodies were created to live forever, but when sin entered the world, it changed things. But there is no doubt in my mind, because of the scriptures, that the will of God is for us to be in health and prosper, (3 John 1:2) and the scripture indicate that we have those things proportionally as our SOUL prospers. The bible talks about it, and when you realize the body works to heal itself through the immune system and white blood cells, well, there it is. That’s a sign of His desire, His plan.
God is good and wants good for us. Healing is included in that. Salvation encompasses healing, whether emotional or physical. Do you want your children to suffer sickness and disease? I don’t think so. God is a better parent than any of us, so of course His desire, His plan, His will for us is that we be in health.
Did Jesus do the will of God? I think most of us would say yes, even if we don’t know the scriptures very well. Jesus said He only did what He saw His Father doing. Well, what was Jesus doing? We see Him in the Gospels walking around, healing the sick and casting out devils, setting free all those who were bound by the devil. By logic and the scriptures, especially Hebrews 1:3 “who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power,” THAT right there is the will of God, because Jesus would not do anything against the will of God. He is our example. Jesus was the perfect example of the Kingdom of God and God’s plan.
“Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” 3 John 1:2. Is this prayer of Paul’s out of the will of God? I don’t think so.
The Bible is the record of our covenant with God. This covenant, this legal document, guarantees certain things that God has provided to us, but we have to know what it says. Jesus left His last will and testament for us. I guarantee if you were named in someone’s wilI here on earth, you would want to know what had been left for you!
If you don’t know what God’s legal document says, then you don’t know what God has provided to His people. We have been given the Spirit of God so that we might know the things that God has freely given us, that we might have understanding of what He has done for us. If you have not welcomed Him into your life, you aren’t living!
