We are in election season. I have never in my life seen such a time of contention and nastiness, such media corruption in coverage of one candidate over another (we know who they are in the tank for). But I have to come back to trusting God in all of it.
Yes, we must pray, for the nation and for the elections. One of the candidates we know. She will keep us on the same path as the current leadership. She will take the country into more destruction of values and prosperity. And more of the insanity that has characterized the Obama administration. She is Obama 2.0. The other candidate is unknown. We must also vote.
Just as I have learned to trust God in my job in the newspaper industry, meeting deadlines and getting stories on time, leaving for the weekend with no front page planned, etc. These were nerve-wracking situations, but I learned to trust God in all of them and He came through every time. I did not and do not have to worry. Just keep trusting. He is working on our behalf. He is working on your behalf.
Psalm 37:1-9….Do not fret because of evildoers, Nor be envious of the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him and He shall bring it to pass. He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday. Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; Do not fret–it only causes harm. For evildoers shall be cut off…
Psalm 37:12…The wicked plots against the just and gnashes at him with his teeth. The Lord laughs at him, for He sees that his day is coming. The wicked have drawn the sword and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, to slay those who are of upright conduct. Their sword shall enter their own heart, and their bows shall be broken…
Where do you need to learn to trust God in today? Is it the elections? Or is it something more personal? Finances? Relationships? Fretting and worrying does nothing but interfere with what God wants to do. It also can make you literally sick! It upsets your body’s chemical balance. The promises of God are for all who call upon Him! Lean on Him. There is a saying going around on Facebook that I like. “When you can’t trace His hand, trust His heart.” That about says it.
Pray: Dear Jesus, We are bustled about by many things every day. Teach us to take one day at a time and live it fully for You . Give us revelation from Your word and Your promises. At every unknown, at every temptation to worry, we turn to You as our Peace. We acknowledge that You hold everything about our lives in Your hand and Your plan. We trust Your infinite goodness and love toward us. We praise and thank You for all You are doing and have done for us. You are good!
