Most of us would say that God can do anything. He is sovereign. Most of us would say we believe that.
But I would like to challenge that on some level…God didn’t stop Adam and Eve from eating of the tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil. Why not? He gave them free will to make a choice. We are not robots. So was God sovereign then? (I would argue yes, he still was sovereign and knew that they would make that choice and had already made a provision for sin in Jesus.)

We hear such things as, if you love me, you will accept my lifestyle, my choices.

In the New Testament, Jesus said eternal life is knowing God and Jesus Christ. John 17:3. Our life here on earth is about eternal life. I have always thought (and I think most people do) that eternal life just meant living forever, but Jesus defined eternal life as something much more. Shortly before His death, He prayed in John 17:1-3, “Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that He may also glorify You, as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that You may give eternal life to as many as You have given Him., And this is eternal life, that they might know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.”
Continue readingI will first note that the ways of God and His Kingdom are not our ways. The bible even says so. We humans have been trained by the world’s knowledge, which is vastly inferior to God’s knowledge. God created everything we can see, touch, smell and hear, therefore He is vastly superior. The carnal mind is enmity against the ways of God. It cannot do otherwise. Romans 8:7. Because God knows everything, and sees everything, even the future, how can our human understanding possibly compete? We must acknowledge that he is far above mere humanity in wisdom, and is far more intelligent. We must accede to that. His wisdom knows no bounds. He is the most intelligent and knowledgeable Being in the universe.

All I did at that time was go to my part time job, read the bible and pray. I devoured the New Testament probably five times in that first 6 months. I was HUNGRY and thirsty. I had so much to learn about Jesus.
Who was this Man who died to pay for my sins? Who was this Man who loved me that much? Did He really provide healing for my body too?

Psalm 8:5 For You have made him a little lower than the angels, And You have crowned him with glory and honor. Most versions say “angels” in this passage, but the actual word used in the Hebrew language is “Elohim” which also translates as God or deities. I’m sure that can be debated, and is. Several translations show it as “a little lower than God.” And the New Testament says in 1 Cor. 6:3 “Do you not know that we shall judge angels? How much more, things that pertain to this life?” Taking these two verses together, one could make the case for a translation of “God” in Psalm 8:5.

How do we behold the Lord? We worship Him. We express our gratitude to Him. When we read His word, we are beholding His glory. We read of what He has done. He is our Creator. He is great, He is magnificent, He is love. He loves us. We owe our existence to Him. He planned for each one of us to come to be on this earth with a plan for the course of our lives. (Jeremiah 1:5, Psalm 139:16)
