We have an identity problem.
Can you not see it manifesting in the earth, as sexual identity among unbelievers is now up for grabs? If human beings cannot grasp even the crystal clear evidence of the simplest thing such as what a male or a female is, we as a people are truly in dire straights. As the United States grapples with this insanity, the Body of Christ also has their own identity crisis: many do not know who they are as regenerated human beings, born anew in Jesus Christ, and elevated spiritually to sit in the heaven-lies with Him, above all spiritual powers and rulers. (Ephesians 2:6.) I submit to you that a great portion of the Body of Christ is not convinced in their hearts of who God has made them to be and the restoration that is available to them.
In the book of Ephesians 1:20-22, we see that Christ has been seated at the right hand of the Father far above all principalities (rule) and powers (authority) and might (power) and dominion,….
Ephesians 2:4-6 “But God, Who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,…
It is God’s plan that we exercise this authority and power over darkness and devils through the power of prayer and the use of our words. Jesus died to elevate us to this position of rulership. It’s the same authority God gave to Adam in the beginning. Jesus came to earth as the “second Adam” to die and get the authority back for men who would believe on Him. We have more benefits than simply being saved to go to Heaven. That’s part of it, but what are we to do with our lives while we are still here on the earth? We are to function in the earth as Jesus’s body, to continue the work He started and then passed on to his apostles and disciples. Are we doing it? What did He do while He was here? All throughout the gospels we see Him going about and doing good, teaching, feeding people, raising the dead, casting out devils and healing all who were oppressed of the devil. Ponder this. We see his disciples and apostles doing likewise. Acts 10:38. I will point out that in Nazareth, the Bible says He could do no mighty works there because of their unbelief. Is that the same as where we live? In an area with many churches, is there faith? Or are we like Nazareth, so full of unbelief, Jesus cannot do many works among us? I pray that is not so.
Psalm 110:1 says “Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies your footstool” This is quoted again in the New Testament. I wonder what this might look like in reality. 1 Corinthians 15:25 states “For He (Jesus) must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet.” Hebrews 10:12-13 says again that He is waiting…” but this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, from that time waiting till His enemies are made HIs footstool…” Hebrews 10:12-13. So from the time that Jesus ascended into heaven and left the disciples, according to these verses He sat down at the right hand of God and is waiting for His Church, His Body, to make His enemies his footstool. To do this, we must engage those enemies. They are spiritual enemies, not flesh and blood.
Note: A footstool symbolizes what is subdued. It is taken from the root word “to subdue”.
In Matthew 16:18, Jesus said to Peter, “On this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it...”
The Church is to exercise the spiritual authority in the earth that Jesus demonstrated. Are we doing it? I believe our society is in the condition it is because of the Church’s lack of understanding what the commission is, or its outright refusal to follow Jesus’s instructions.
We must restore right standards and rebuild our world in truth. We must call people to come out of the darkness and return to righteous living. They have been set free to live well because of the sacrifice Jesus Christ made. God is with us.
