The God of This Age, Part 3

In order to “give the devil no place,” (Ephesians 4:27) it is vital that we practice loving others. 1 John 3:10 says, “In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother.” We are also instructed to pray for our enemies (who are ruled by him) and those who want to do us harm.

Final judgment is coming for the god of this age

The final judgment of the devil is talked about in Matthew 25:41, which also speaks of the final judgment of ungodly men, “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels.”

The book of Revelation gives great insight into the future of our already-defeated foe. Revelation 12:9 “So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.”

Revelation 12:12 speaks of a time when the devil does his worst…“Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time.” I believe this speaks of the time of the great Tribulation.

Revelation 20:2 tells us that God “…laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years;”

More about his final end is found in Revelation 20:10 “The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.”

Live your life in the light and not the darkness

The bible is very clear: if you don’t live your life under the spiritual lordship of King Jesus, whom we do not visibly see at the moment but we will, then you absolutely live under the power of the god of this age, or the devil. You live in darkness and only Jesus has the light you need. He is the light of all men. Believe Him now.

When Adam and Eve sinned, they lost their “light,” the battery charge in their spirits. The light and life of God that had been in them went out when they gave their allegiance to another. Their bodies still lived, but their personalities and their minds became darkened. They no longer could live by truth. They began to live under the spell and control of the darkness where their new master, Satan, ruled.

There is great hope in Jesus! You can be free from the domain of darkness! Your “light” can come back on. Hope, purpose, and joy can be yours in Jesus Christ.
