Where is Wisdom?

Psalms 51:6 “Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts, And in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom.”

God desires truth in our inward parts. What is our inward parts? The New American Standard Bible and other versions call it the “innermost being.” Some versions call it the inner self. I think we can safely say it is the realm of a person’s personality, their heart and their soul. the Bible speaks of a soul and a spirit, which make up the inner part of a man. God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into him the breath of life, Genesis 2:7 says.

Man’s Heart is Defective; He Needs Help

The prophet Jeremiah rightly observes, in the madness of his day…Jeremiah 17:9. “The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?

American culture is on the edge of a cliff. There are those loudly demanding to kill their unborn children at any age, and those who want to mutilate children by cutting off their genitalia. They want to encourage changing “genders” and keep parents in the dark about these things in our school system. They are usurping the authority of parents over their own children. This is in our government schools. There are those who pass laws continually decreasing security in our elections as well as a myriad of other things that used to be considered illegal, unethical and immoral. Doing the upright thing is now “wrong” and you will be prosecuted for it, while doing wrong is celebrated with maybe a slap on the hand by the legal system. What is wrong with our society? A protest with burning buildings in the background is described by media as “mostly peaceful” and any of those arrested for it were quickly released, while an unarmed protest at the nation’s Capitol resulted in many being held in federal prison for several years now with no trial. Social media speech is under attack, especially during election season and censorship is approved by many. Can you see things are very messed up?

God’s Word has All the Answers

Where can men find wisdom and regain their sense of honor, dignity, and the truth that they were created in the image of God? They can regain it if they wish. In the Bible, Proverbs 4:5 instructs us to “Get wisdom! Get understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth.” It goes on to say in Proverbs 4:6-7: “Do not forsake her (wisdom), and she will preserve you; Love her, and she will keep you. Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.

The Bible is a book full of stories that relates the consequences of the human failure to follow God’s ways. Study Deuteronomy 28 for a detailed reveal. The first half of the book contains the blessings of obedience. The second half starting at verse 15 relates the negative outcomes that happen in the lives of those who disobey.

Proverbs 2:1 “My child, will you treasure my wisdom? Then, and only then, will you acquire it. And only if you accept my advice and hide it within will you succeed.

Many in our culture do not prize wisdom and understanding. They continue in willful, sinful ways and their life spirals downward, and yet they do not ask “why?” These have no fear of the Lord. They willfully do the same things over and over again, expecting different outcomes, and yet, the same consequence comes to them. Oh, when will they listen to the Spirit of God who loves them and desires to help them. When will they “hit bottom” snd turn away from their willfulness?

Proverbs 16:16 “How much better to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.

When will our society desire wisdom and understanding?

Christians, as regenerated humans with new hearts that can hear God, we are on a rescue mission, in training to be spiritual EMTs when the call comes….and it will come. At some point, people will be looking for the answers to life. We as believers need to prepare and be ready because the world needs us. Our culture needs us. Without relationship with Jesus Christ, there is no lasting answer.

And so, because I cannot say it any better than the Bible does…

Proverbs 2:2-17 TPT “So train your heart to listen when I speak and open your spirit wide to expand your discernment—then pass it on to your sons and daughters.

Yes, cry out for comprehension and intercede for insight. For if you keep seeking it like a man would seek for sterling silver, searching in hidden places for cherished treasure, then you will discover the fear of the Lord and find the true knowledge of God.

Wisdom is a gift from a generous God, and every word he speaks is full of revelation and becomes a fountain of understanding within you.

For the Lord has a hidden storehouse of wisdom made accessible to his godly lovers.

He becomes your personal bodyguard as you follow his ways, protecting and guarding you as you choose what is right.

Then you will discover all that is just, proper, and fair, and be empowered to make the right decisions as you walk into your destiny.

When wisdom wins your heart and revelation breaks in, true pleasure enters your soul.

If you choose to follow good counsel, divine design will watch over you and understanding will protect you from making poor choices.

It will rescue you from evil in disguise and from those who speak duplicities.

For they have left the highway of holiness and walk in the ways of darkness.

They take pleasure when evil prospers and thoroughly enjoy a lifestyle of sin.

But they’re walking on a path to nowhere, wandering away into deeper deception.

Only wisdom can save you from the flatteryof the promiscuous woman—she’s such a smooth-talking seductress!

She left her husband and has forgotten her wedding vows.”

A Prayer

Pray with me. Dear Jesus, I need a change in my life. What I am doing is not working out for me. My life is a mess. I turn this day to You, the Source of all wisdom, and I ask You to forgive me and cleanse me of all my sins. I desire that You be the Lord of my life, to direct it and to keep it. I am not able to do it on my own. I will study Your word and pray to get to know You better. Thank You for dying on the cross so that my sins might be forgiven. Fill me with Your Spirit so that I might know the things You have for me. I desperately need wisdom and understanding.
