A human being sits on the throne of the universe (a resurrected human being). Are you shocked I said that?

I must credit teacher and author Paul E. Billheimer for bringing this fact to my attention. It fiddled with my mind. It stunned me. It is an astounding statement. It changed my understanding of Jesus. I have never heard anyone ever say that before, or if I did, I did not truly hear it. (Billheimer, who died in 1984, made this statement in his book, Destined for The Throne: How Spiritual Warfare Prepares the Body of Christ for Her Eternal Destiny.)

Hebrews 10:12-13 “But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, from that time waiting til His enemies are made His footstool.”

Matthew 26:64 ‘Jesus said to him, “It is as you said. Nevertheless, I say to you, hereafter you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven.”

Mark 14:62-63 ‘Jesus said, “I am. And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven.” Then the high priest tore his clothes and said, “What further need do we have of witnesses?

So there’s your human being on the throne of the universe. In both the Matthew and Mark passages, the context is He was being asked if He was the Son of God. He answered in the affirmative, but then went on to refer to Himself as the Son of Man. How confused they must have been! I don’t think they heard Him. They didn’t know what it meant, so they may have dismissed it.

Mark 13:26 “Then they will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.”

Luke repeats that in Luke 21:27, “Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

Interesting to note, the scriptures don’t say you will see the Son of God coming in His glory….It says SON OF MAN!

Let’s look at more evidence. In the book of Acts after Jesus died and was resurrected, we find it recorded that Stephen actually saw the “Son of Man standing beside the throne of God” in Heaven as he was being stoned to death. Jesus stood up to receive him. It is an amazing revelation.

Acts 7:55-56 “But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God, and said, “Look! I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!”

To those who might say I’m trying to bring God down to my level….He already came to my level when He was born in the earth as a human. Hebrews 2:14, 17, Phil. 2:7.

I rest my case.
