I have long thought that this country, the USA, has been blessed with such an abundance of the Word of God and the many-faceted ways to read it, hear it, and receive it, such as podcasts, audio recordings and the like, as well as the many versions of bible translations, that in reality, I can find no excuse for the depravity of our land. There is none, except that men have rejected it. Or perhaps they have rejected our version of a church without power. Our country ought to be strong; the church ought to be strong. I believe the church in this country has no excuse not to be the strongest and most enlightened in the world because of our great privileges as a society that has been living in the freedom we have. We have not embraced this great salvation and Kingdom that God has provided for us. Because of the great privileges, wealth and prosperity we have been given, I fear that we have fallen prey to the love of our own comforts and the lusts of the world. We are guilty of not obeying the Creator of the universe, the great Lover of our souls.
There really is no excuse for our lukewarmness and sin. I have been privy (if you can call it that) to the observation of great sins in church leadership. I have been involved in bringing accountability in more than one instance. Without exception in these examples, men refused to repent and to accept help. Yes, these are men, but Christianity 101 is to stop fornication and adultery. The devil has brought a great onslaught in the spread of pornography and perversion. Even the world knows deep down these things are sin. These examples make me believe that these were not serious ministers of the gospel. I came out of some serious sexual sin in my pre–Christ life. God takes these matters seriously and we should too. We should all struggle to stay out of sin, of whatever kind. We do that by our growing love for and relationship with the Creator of the universe. We are instructed to flee from sin. We cannot linger as King David in the Old Testament did and consequently fell into greater sin. These are serious matters. The devil would tell you it’s not a big deal…but it is.
Another serious matter is having these great privileges and access to the scriptures, but not taking it seriously, not being grateful for it and following God’s plan. The American church has failed to disciple the nation. It is quite obvious now, as our society falls into ever deeper depravity and corruption. For this I think we will pay a heavy price.
So my plea to anyone who is reading this: first, if you do not know God yet, you can. You can have your sins forgiven and come into fellowship with Him. For those who have been saved, I cannot say this with more seriousness: follow God and follow His plan for your life. In this is your safety.
Pray this prayer: Jesus, I believe that You died to pay for my sins. I acknowledge that I have not been living for You. I want change in my life and I believe You are the only Way to make that change. Forgive me of my sins and take my life. Change me and give me new life in You. I want to know You more.
If you are a believer and study His word, you will find His plan for your life. Only in that plan lies your safety for what may be coming to our country. God is serious about His plan. Jesus is serious about His plan. He is currently on the throne waiting until His enemies be made His footstool. He is waiting on us. Hebrews 10:12-13 “But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool.“
We all have a part to play in bringing the Kingdom of God to the earth and welcoming our King Jesus. The Scriptures say we can even hasten it! We living in interesting and possibly dangerous times, but Jesus has given us victory! Keep looking up for that is where our Redemption is. We have been delivered from the powers of darkness and seated with Him spiritually in the heavenly places. He is our Shelter, our Rock and our Salvation. He is our Healer and our Provider for everything we need in this life. Be blessed.
